Pope Saint John Paul II in Pastores dabo vobis describes seminary formation as “a continuation in the Church of the apostolic community gathered about Jesus, listening to his word, proceeding towards the Easter experience, awaiting the gift of the Spirit for the mission.”
As a first step in following the call of Christ, men considering a vocation to ordained ministry in the Romanian Catholic Diocese of Canton are encouraged to contact the Director of Vocations to begin the formal process of dialogue and discernment toward that end.
Those from within our own Romanian Catholic parishes and missions will no doubt have the support and encouragement of their own pastor, but all inquires are welcome and respected. After initial contact and introductions, viable candidates will be invited to continue the application process and begin building a seminarian file with all the necessary documentation. Our diocese follows the norms for priestly formation (PPF) as outlined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. At least two years of active membership in one of our parishes or missions should have passed before a vocational inquiry is made.
